Got up at 4 this morning and booked it. Was super anxious about missing the ferry, but made pretty good time. Got to the river crossing at noon, 2 hours before the ferry stops. It started to pour rain as Notyet showed up shortly after and we were afraid the ferry operator (who is just a guy named Rob that paddles a canoe) would not be running but we were able to flag him down and get across.
We booked a room at the Sterling inn in caratunk, not feeling like pushing any further today. It’s a nice spot. As we were showering and resupplying we saw Digs show up, who we’d met so many times over the past few days. He’s interested in joining our little group for the last stretch, so we planned out the remaining miles. In theory we have a set date where we will summit katahdin but we don’t want to say it, lest we somehow mess it up.
Tomorrow is 18 miles to a shelter, and then the next day is Monson, right before the 100 mile wilderness.
