Slept like shit last night. No one in Maine has air conditioning so when it gets hot every indoor space just becomes an oven and that is what the bunk room was last night.
I decided a short way into the hike today that I don’t care about the Bigelows at all and found a road walk that bypasses them for the most part. Feels pretty slimy as the Bigelows are the last 4k footers before katahdin, but I’m just feeling like shit and tomorrow is possibly going to be stressful.
Piph and Slim hit 1000 miles from Harper’s Ferry near our campsite. Since I got in early I made a marker.

Tomorrow we are taking an arguably dumb gamble. The kennebec river has to be crossed via a ferry that runs until 2PM. If we can burn thru 18 (easyish) miles before 2 tomorrow, then we can stop at a nearby hostel and resupply and get food. If we miss that window then we have to camp on the side of the river and wait another day to cross. I will be up early but I think I can do it.
