Long day. Started around 830 with the shuttle to the trailhead. Original plan was to do about 13 but there’s a wicked heat wave coming and Piph only had one more day of food since she didn’t stay in town so we bumped it up so that we can hit Bigelow tomorrow. It meant over 6200ft of climbing tho, which wrecked me.
Saddlebacks were dumb. Just a bunch of the same slab climbing for a view that looks like every other. Sun was brutal on the exposed ridgeline.
A stupid piece of shit mountain called lone mountain was at the end of the day. It was miserable and I thought I could cheat around it but I was wrong. It sucked.
Shelter has good hammock trees at least and we made s’mores.
Tomorrow is a walk to a hostel in Bigelow. It looks like a super easy cheat so I’m feeling kinda good about it. Will also pass the 2k mile marker.
