Dumped rain all night last night, which wasn’t in the forecast. Managed to still get an early ish start but I knew today was going to be a real long one.
Old blue Mt was a slog but doable. It was actually somewhat cold on the top which was nice, but no real views.

Bemis Mountain, the stupidest named mountain with no purpose at all, wrecked me hard. It is the perfect representation of Maine so far: climb straight up a real slick 45 degree rock face, climb down a real slick 45 degree rock face, walk through a big shrek swamp filled with bugs and boards with loose nails sticking out, repeat. I fell more times than I could keep track, reopened all my leg wounds, cracked my phone hard, and coated all my shit in mud.

I climbed out onto a scenic overlook where Piph and her dad were at about 4pm. I looked like death I’m sure but said hello and limped thru the next 10 miles to the campsite and got in before 8pm. I feel totally shot.
Outfitter and resupply tomorrow, then saddlebacks in the afternoon, which is probably going to suck. Maine is kinda shit so far, all the Sobos seem to love it though.
