Day145

Late start today since we had to shuttle from the dome and eat the big breakfast they have. We ran into Digs, another nobo we’d seen several times since Vermont, and chatted with him for almost an hour. He’s a fun person, but was going into town so we’re kinda ahead of him now.

Notyet wanted to push past 10 miles and camp on top of old blue Mt. Slim, Piph and I were not feeling super hot today so we slow rolled it pretty hard for a while. It was hot as all hell today and the water spacing was really shit. We spent almost an hour sitting at a shelter mid day talking with a group of Sobos. They are fun people and so full of life and hope. The trail has not drained their enthusiasm yet.

By the time we got to the 10 mile camp site it was fairly late and looked like it was going to rain so we convinced Notyet to call it there. Shortly after we setup and ate it started to downpour, so I stand by it being a good call, even if it means tomorrow is a fair bit longer.

We keep leapfrogging a woman with two Australian shepherds that go apeshit anytime anyone is within a quarter mile of them. This seems to be really pissing slim off, but I’m mostly curious how she gets these dogs up all the rebar ladders and 15 ft rock scrambles.
