Rough day today. Mt Success was a joke and I was at the Maine border pretty early. We all took pictures of it and then a boy scout group walked thru and as I was moving out of the way I lost my footing and bashed my knee into the sign, opening up one of my many scabs and spilling a bunch of my blood onto the new Hampshire side.
I fell on the way to the water source before the notch and cracked the plastic on my water filter. Was able to reseal it with glue and leuko but I probably need to replace it. The rubber sole on my shoes has also been shredded by the rocks here, might need to get new shoes.
The notch was rough but I got it done. At least it was cold at the bottom and I cleared it in 70 minutes which is faster than a lot of people supposedly.
The arm was a tough climb but I hiked thru it with Slim and Piph and we made decent time. Got to the shelter at 5 and it is packed again. Another boy scout camp and these kids are loud as hell. Could hear them from the top of the arm. I very much miss being on the empty parts of the trail.
Tomorrow we are going into town hopefully and celebrating Piph’s birthday since she won’t be on trail for it.
