Day114

Was slightly cooler today but still hot enough to make it a grueling hell march.

First 6 or so miles today were legitimately a road walk. The 1500 mile point is literally at a construction site.

Then it was a gauntlet of mountains. The climbs themselves are doable, but with the heat and the relentless storm of bugs it was a miserable slog. I was drinking so much water that I was starting to feel pretty ill, and there were multiple points today where I became fairly light headed and needed to lean hard on my trek poles. The bugs have become worse as well. As I summited mt Everett some kind of bird tried to attack my head or take my hat or something.

I think that is what is driving the bulk of my quitting thought right now. I dread these sections not because they are miserable on their own, but because they are miserable in the heat. They are interesting climbs (the views still suck), and were it cooler I’d probably look forward to them.

Was supposed to meet Notyet at the shelter but he decided to push into town (which is totally fine ). I’ll be in town early enough tomorrow possibly to catch him one last time.

This might be my last night on trail. It is a nice site. Lots of pine trees.
