Day100

Left the hotel a bit after sunrise and then it immediately started dumping rain. Today was mostly flat but it was still very rocky. 12 miles of stepping on very slippery legos.

I ran into a ridge runner midway through, which surprised the hell out of me because this area of trail is barely maintained. He told me the trail smoothed out in a bit, classic lie, but it did become a fire road for the last 2 miles. He also said Delaware Water Gap was a cool town and since it was Monday it wouldn’t be too crowded with tourists. Rain finally let up and a deluge of memorial day hikers poured in.

After wading thru all of them I made it to Delaware Water Gap. I’m staying in town so I can go to stroudsburg tomorrow to get new shoes but I decided for the sake of my own sanity I would cross the Delaware river and prove to myself that it was possible to leave Pennsylvania. A waste of miles for sure and walking all the way thru town with socks still soaking probably messed my feet up some, but mentally it was 100% worth it and one of my top 3 moments on trail. PA is somehow done.

There’s a ramen place right next to the hotel which was unexpected and it was real good. Sat in there for a while and talked to some guy from Philadelphia about the trail and how much he hates Massachusetts.

Tomorrow is a zero where I’ll go to stroudsburg, resupply, and grab my shoes hopefully.
