Short and easy trek to Harper’s Ferry. Tons of day hikers out since it is Saturday and mother’s day weekend I guess.
Harper’s is kinda cool and I’m sure full of rich history but it is a gaudy tourist town mostly. The downtown area was beyond packed and I was wading thru people on the sidewalk. Still, it was hot enough by the time I got there that I didn’t want to walk 10 more miles to a shelter so I went ahead and booked a room for the night.
Van Gogh is still here and at the hotel for the night. Said he’s going to try for big miles tomorrow. Big Bird is at the nearby hostel and I talked to him as I walked to 711 for a light snack resupply.
Dunno what I’m shooting for tomorrow. Schedule has me doing 17 but the elevation looks pretty minimal so we’ll see how I feel at that point I guess. Going to be hot as hell tomorrow so hoping to start early.
