20 mile days are back on the menu it seems. I got to the 8 mile shelter at about 1030 am so I figured I’d keep pushing and then as I realized I could probably make it to the camp store outside Bearfence shelter before it closed I just committed to the full 20 miles. Ankle feels pretty solid right now but my feet are still a bit ache-y. I went sicko mode in the store and probably bought way more food than I need to get to Harper’s.
Outside that today was mostly pretty routine. Shenandoah is still very nice to look at but there weren’t any crazy views or anything. I think a deer tried to eat my trekking poles last night.
Saw a coyote just before the shelter but he scrammed before I could get a picture.
Big meadow wayside tomorrow which should have an open diner now. Shelter I’m supposed to stay at based on the schedule is just 11 easy miles. There’s a lodge 5 more miles from it that I might check availability for, but it is a weekend so I am not getting my hopes up.
