Pretty heavy down pour last night. I stayed dry but started late as I wanted my tarp to dry out (dumb excuse, I am just very lazy). Today was decent. Sun was out so things got a little warmer than I would have preferred but there were some nice views.

Ankle pain is mostly gone now but feet are still a little sore even after 13 miles. I stopped by the loft Mt camp store hoping for some resupply as my food is starting to run low. It was closed for “technical issues”. A bit past that was the first actual Wayside.

It was open, but the restaurant side doesn’t open for the season until tomorrow so I was stuck with overpriced snacks from the gift shop. Can’t complain I guess, beats going into town. The next couple waysides are supposed to be better.
Got to Pinefield shelter at about 430. There’s a big rat in the shelter that I could hear from the picnic table. No rain tonight so back to hammocking under the stars.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 20 miles. Dunno if I’m going to be able to swing that tho. I can do an easy split of 8 to the next shelter and then do the remaining 12 the next day. My plan is to be up early, do the 8, if I’m feeling good push the remaining 12. Adds a day to the schedule but at least I’m putting miles on the board. I’m planning on skipping the suggested stop into Luray VA, so maybe can catch up some with that.
