Today was doable but I think I am really feeling the 4 days off now. Ankle heel thing feels almost totally fine now but my feet just ache like hell after 13 miles which is frustrating. Could be stiffness from the time off (where I was quite sedentary), could be the new shoes still breaking in, could be that I accidentally bought the “light” darn tough socks (still have 2 pair of the regular ones so should be fine).
Was raining and foggy all day but the footing so far in Shenandoah has been immaculate. No scrambling, fewer rocks, lots of flat, soft trail. In theory 20+ miles should totally be doable here but I’m not pushing anything yet.

Shelter has the same folks from last night, Halftime, Van Gogh, and Britches. They are chill but have all scurried into the shelter because of the rain. Tarp is holding up even though I had to use some rocks as anchors.
Tomorrow is 13 miles to Pinefield shelter and I get the chance to stop by the first Wayside, where I can pick up some food and recharge some stuff. Hopefully it doesn’t suck as I was really looking forward to this stretch not requiring me to do a bunch of food carries.
