Day64

Short day. Supposed to have done 18 but did about 11 in an effort to keep some stress off my ankle which is still fairly swollen and in pain. Feels better than yesterday but I didn’t want to push it, yet still wanted to take advantage of the cooler weather while I could. Feel like I definitely have enough energy/daylight to make the 18, but whatever. Didn’t even touch my food yet as I packed out half a pizza I couldn’t finish at the hotel, so I have plenty of supplies to last to Glasgow.

Ate a slice next to this nice stream while I was filtering water.

Current plan is to push 15-20 tomorrow, do another 15-20 the next day, and then Glasgow is an easy 10 or so. Hoping to stay at Stanimals in Glasgow. Stanimal also owns one of the first hostels I stayed at in February, and it was really solid. If my ankle is still problematic there I’ll figure something out but I’d like to avoid taking another zero for a while.

There’s like 20 boomer section hikers staying at this shelter (I really should have just stealth camped somewhere but I’m not walking anymore today). Hopefully they aren’t going to talk at the picnic table all night. I saw kdot and tax collector head out yesterday, and I’m sure they are doing actual miles so I doubt I will see them again. It does seem like anytime I run into someone somewhat interesting that I can sorta keep pace with, I fall behind them pretty soon after. Probably some kind of life lesson there.

Since it was tax day recently and I’ve been out here for 2+ months, I checked some financial stuff this morning before I left the hotel. I have funds set aside explicitly for this trip of course, but it was cool to see that I’m actually net worth positive for that 2 month period. In theory I could remain in the woods indefinitely based on how much I’m spending out here.
