Woke up feeling pretty shitty. Head felt light and I was just tired overall. Pearisburg felt real far away and I was convinced I’d get burned by the deli.
Made it to the deli at 11, and it did happen to be open. The reviews said “order the brushy mountain burger, don’t ask what’s on it”. I ordered the brushy mountain burger. Lady at the counter asked if I knew what was on it. I told her “the reviews said to order it and not ask what’s on it”. When I got it I knew it was something I was not comfortable taking a picture of, and I was somewhat certain that it would liquify my organs. The resupply options were slim there tho, so I ate it, hoping for the best.
The next 12 or so miles were kind of a blur, but I was moving. Again the water options were barren on this stretch. Someone left a trail magic cooler in a parking lot but it just had beer in it, which seemed like a bad idea, especially with the burger in full control of my body now. Was supposed to stop at jenny knob to camp since it did have reliable water, but even before walking down the spur trail I could hear 8+ people there and I didn’t feel like dealing with a crowd, and felt like I had several more miles left in me. Found a stream shortly after, and setup camp at a tiny spot right off the trail a couple miles past. A guy I ran into named “Gator” said I looked like someone that does 20 mile days (hopefully a compliment), so today being a another 20 miler felt suiting.
Tomorrow is probably a push to woods hole hostel, which is 10 easy miles from pearisburg. A part of me wants to just push straight to pearisburg, but probably a bad idea to try for 30 miles right now.
Crossed 600 miles today, which means I did over 100 miles in the last week (even with a zero jammed in there). Cool.
Tried to fight the trail boss today too but his moveset is crazy.
