Apparently it got below freezing last night. Woke up to a bunch of people gawking at me for being able to sleep through it in the hammock. I always sleep with my water filter now, so that is not a concern at least.

Pretty much sums up the day. This section of trail is really lacking in just about anything. Very little water, very few campsites or shelters, most of the views are just power lines.
I either did some math wrong or was very much relying on the bbq place being open, because I don’t think I have enough food to get to pearisburg. There’s a deli/store right off the trail at mile 590, but it is only open from 7 to 2. That meant today was either 20+ miles to a campsite past that point (and missing the resupply), or a shorter day to hopefully allow me to hit it tomorrow. Chose the shorter day to be safe, and because I was still fairly in pain from yesterday. If this deli isn’t open when I get there tomorrow it either means ducking into Bland VA, or pushing some real serious miles to the next hostel in hopes of a resupply.
Camping at a pretty nice site kind of close to a road, which is a bad idea, but it is also near a stream so I don’t have to worry about water in the morning.
15 miles today felt okay but I can feel a bit of the burnout probably from the pain yesterday and the resupply stress and the water hauls. A zero in pearisburg is starting to sound real enticing. Also there’s a hole in my shorts now. Damn.
