Marion has a shuttle that runs from downtown to the trailhead so I’m taking that but it can’t drop me off until about 11 so it is going to be a late start. Probably not going to try to push crazy miles today anyway tho. There’s a barbeque place about 12 miles out that is supposed to be pretty good and right off trail so I think my plan will be to hit that and then hit a camp site about 2-3 miles further.
A couple miles out from the bbq place right now. Feet feel good and I feel like I’m flying. Plenty of daylight left. Could just be easy terrain or could be that my clown costume is one step closer to completion.

Stopped at a shelter to make a logbook entry. The kids from the north wanted me to send them any of the ones I make since I guess they really liked the ones they saw me write when we were together and now that they are ahead they have no chance to read them. Making sure I document some of the key bits we had:
- z packs is a meme brand for 60 year old guys that used to work at blackrock
- any unnamed mountain that has to be climbed at the end of the day is called “mount ballcrusher”
- “my fiance is a professional chef”
- “last one to katahdin wins” is a stupid as hell phrase and anyone using it is a tool
- “it’s all smooth sailing from here”
Bleh the BBQ place and the nearby Mexican restaurant are both closed on Mondays. Pushed forward across a bunch of meadows to a campsite and got in before 5. Considered pushing forward 4 miles but this site has nice hammock trees and a table, and a couple guys (PostIt and ???) came by and told me they were going to the next site. Don’t want to crowd them, I’ll just get up a bit early tomorrow.
Lots of meadows like this today. The power lines here were loud as fuck.
