Felt like a near zero today. Pretty breezy, done by noon. Original plan was that some of us were going to make it to highway 19 e, and then stop off at a hostel there. Things got kinda complicated tho. Notyet had lucky charm’s Garmin that he was going to return, and it turned out that lucky charm was staying with a hiker host named Deborah, who, after hearing about returning the Garmin, offered Notyet a stay at her place. Notyet mentioned that he was planning on stopping at a hostel so that he and I could catch up some, and she offered to take me in too after he and lucky charm vouched for me, cool. Her home is very nice and she is very kind and she has a cool donkey named Ted.

Hike itself was nice. Got up early, which I think helps a ton. Went down to the site of the former over mountain shelter which used to be a real cool barn looking thing but all that remains is a very exposed privy.

Crossed both the little and regular hump mountains.

Roan highlands has been a cool change in scenery overall. Enough cloud cover today that the lack of shade wasn’t too much of an issue.

Ran into Preacher on the way out and he caught me up on a bunch of drama around people behind me who I have never met. Past 4 days or so I haven’t really seen anyone else, so it is a bit of a mental shock to be talking with people so much the past 24 hours.
Notyet and I are probably going to take a zero tomorrow at the hostel on 19e anyway. He really wants to see it, and I am feeling some lower back nerve pain and am hoping a day without the pack helps it out. Don’t think there’s an outfitter anywhere near here, so I’m stuck at least to Hampton with this hole in my shoe.
