Left the NOC sort of late. Lots of climbing today which, combined with the heat and 16 mile day yesterday was sort of rough. Made it to Sassafras gap (there are so many waypoints named after whatever Sassafras is).
We had considered pushing to a further site since we all got here around 2, but decided to play it safe and stay here. It does mean we have a 15 mile day tomorrow to cable gap possibly. I will be starting as early as I can for that as I am still painfully slow at all of this. It almost feels like I am getting slower somehow.
Start the smokies on Thursday and I know it is going to kick my ass.
Found signs of Elf in the Sassafras log book. He stayed here on 02/25, meaning he did 144 miles in less than 11 days. What a maniac. Good to know he’s still out there tho.
I didn’t actually take any pictures today. It was mostly a really dull climb out of the NOC.
