Interesting character I’ve run into the past few days. Guy wearing a kilt hiking north at about the same pace as us, doesn’t say much, his bag is filled with Arby’s sandwiches. I would be taking a breather on the trail, he’d appear out of the fog or from behind a rock smoking a cigarette and then walk past me. I’d hit him with a “howdy”, he’d grunt in acknowledgement and keep going. Then I wouldn’t see him until the exact same interaction played out again. Someone nearby asked if he was thru hiking and his response was “I’m just getting away for a while”. Didn’t see him today but have thought a lot about that last part.
12.1 miles today was pretty smooth. Rained a lot but I nabbed a bag liner at the resupply so my shit is pretty dry (I also grabbed a ziplock bag of trail mix from the free box because I am in desperate need of Ziploc bags). At low gap shelter now with notyet and bladerunner. We all got here at 2 pm so we’ve just been chilling and planning out the next week or so. It’s about to get real cold. Tomorrow is an easy 7 mile day. Day after is going to be a pretty brutal 15 mile climb.
Picked up a real nifty adapter for the Sawyer squeeze so the whole system threads together. It feels like a game changer.

Was on trail early enough to need a lamp. Was crazy foggy.
Fog
Lowgap shelter (I never sleep in shelters but they usually have good water sources and amenities nearby)
Wanted to go tarpless tonight and see some stars but it is supposed to rain.
Tuning my hammock hang over time. Starting to measure it because why not. Today it is at 7.8 degrees with the head way too high. Tomorrow should shoot for 2 I think.
Dropped it down to 6.2 when I got up to pee. Will see what happens.
