Took the MARTA to Sandy Springs. Leaving the hotel I ditched everything but the pack (threw out some useless bags I had too), so what I have now is what I will have forever.
Walked around Sandy Springs for a bit. Went to the REI to get fuel since I couldn’t fly with it (now what I have is what I will have forever). REI lady wished me luck and gave me a sticker.
Ubered from Sandy Springs to Amicalola which I was surprised worked. Uber driver was super chill about it tho and said he was wanting to hike up the falls anyways, so I felt less guilty about making him drive 90 minutes. He clocked me as a prospective thru hiker and gave me a bunch of advice and stories and then dropped me off in the parking lot at the base of the falls where I thought the lodge was. The lodge was not at the base of the falls.

Made it up the “strenuous” stairway to the top of the falls and checked in. Drenched in sweat by the end, the heat here is really making me think starting as early as I am is not necessarily a bad move.

Tomorrow something happens. I hope.
