Went out to Colorado Bend State Park today and hiked around a bunch with pretty much what will be the full pack I plan to start with. With a couple days food + 4L water it ended up being about 26 lbs. I ended up getting ~14 miles in which I’m pretty pleased with I guess, especially given that I didn’t really start moving until almost 3pm, but I fucked up kinda bad and ended up having to do almost 6 of those miles in the dark.
Saw a shit ton of armadillos.
Some cool caves.
Wanted to get to this waterfall before it got dark, which I did.
Pretty sunset but I did realize at this point that things were likely going to turn not chill.
My shitty little camp for the night, where I am right now.
Weather was not stellar but not awful. It is still way too damn hot and my allergies are still pretty bad. I saw absolutely 0 other people while I was hiking which was cool, and I only saw one other person near the primitive camping. No service out here, so hopefully civilization hasn’t fallen apart yet. Will find out tomorrow.
